Tour the Rockies by paw-power! The price includes transportation from Jackson, three days of guided dogsledding with instruction, all meals, expedition sleeping bags and state-of-the-art equipment.
Often overshadowed by their celebrated mountain neighbors the Grand Tetons, Wyoming’s Wind Rivers see far fewer crowds and are better suited for the sport of expedition dogsledding. Under a sparkling mantle of snow, the dramatic topography lends itself to a variety of exciting runs on forested trails, frozen flats, to high atop the Continental Divide!
Under the expert guidance of musher Billy Snodgrass, you’ll gain a thorough understanding of the basic commands, techniques and sled control. Emphasis will be placed on handling, feeding, harnessing and care of your assigned dogs, essential elements in building a good rapport with your team.
You will find that it is the dogs themselves and the special relationship you develop over three days that becomes the most meaningful part of your experience.
The trip starts with transportation from your accommodations in Jackson. Then it’s on the trail for the day into the backcountry of Wyoming wilderness!! Nights are spent in our comfortable yurt warmed by a wood fire or in one of many backcountry lodges. Hearty meals will be prepared by our experienced chefs. Optional snowshoes and skinny skis will be available at each stop for those who want additional winter diversions.
Finally, we transport you back to your accommodations in Jackson. Convenient air service to Jackson combined with airport transfers help create an escape that can fit in even the busiest of schedules!
The weather in Wyoming during our sledding season is cold and unpredictable. We recommend layers of clothing that are breathable and can be removed easily. A snow suit that is not easily removed is not recommended. Be prepared to adjust for different temperatures and activity levels.
